The White Glove Guarantee Terms
These are the terms for White Glove, our done-for-you service, and for the Guarantee that comes with White Glove Guaranteed. They are written to be read, not to hide behind.
They sit alongside our Terms of Service, which cover everything else about using Press Whisper. If the two disagree about White Glove or the Guarantee, these terms win β including over the "no guarantees" clause in the Terms of Service, which does not apply to White Glove Guaranteed.
White Glove is sold to organisations: businesses, charities, authors, creators and anyone else buying press for their work. "You" means the organisation that buys it; "we" means Press Whisper.
1. The two options
- White Glove β $2,700, one-off. We do the work listed in section 2.
- White Glove Guaranteed β $3,350, one-off. The same work, plus the Guarantee in sections 5 to 9. The extra $650 buys the Guarantee and nothing else; the service is identical.
Both are one-off fees. There is no retainer, no minimum term and no subscription β nothing renews and there is nothing to cancel. Prices are shown for your region; the price on your invoice is the one that applies.
2. What we deliver
- Nothing to prepare: we research your story ourselves β your website, your numbers, your past coverage. Got an angle in mind? Tell us.
- Your account and organisation profile, built out and critiqued
- Your first press kit, written and designed β we host it at your own PressWhisper address, yours to keep
- Journalist matching: the writers who actually cover your beat, not a mass list
- Pitches written and sent in your name β you get the final say before anything goes out
- Opens, clicks and coverage tracked, and reported back to you β nothing to chase
We do this work with reasonable care and skill. Nothing goes out under your name until you have approved it.
3. Before we start
- Places are limited, and we choose the stories we take on. We take a small number of White Glove projects each month and only accept a story we believe we can get covered. Applying does not guarantee a place. We may decline before we start work; if we do, anything you have paid is refunded in full.
- You can change your mind. Cancel before we start work β we tell you the start date when we confirm your place β and we refund you in full. After that the fee pays for the work, and the only refund from then on is the one the Guarantee gives you.
- Work starts when the fee is paid. We invoice you (or send a card payment link) once we have confirmed we can take your story. You don't need to prepare anything: we research your story ourselves. If there is a particular angle you want pushed, tell us before we start.
4. What we need from you
The Guarantee depends on these. They are the only things we ask, and they are the things a journalist will need too.
- Straight answers when we ask. We research your story ourselves, but if we check a fact with you, or ask for evidence behind a claim we will be putting in front of a journalist, answer accurately and completely. Tell us about anything that could stop a story running β a legal dispute, a regulatory issue, the same news already announced elsewhere.
- Replies within two working days. That covers our questions, and a journalist's questions or interview request during the Guarantee Period.
- Approvals within five working days of us sending you a draft β the press kit, the pitch, the journalist list.
- Don't turn down coverage without good reason. If a journalist who meets the test in section 5 wants the story, say yes.
- Tell us if anyone else is pitching the same story β you, or another agency β in the same period, so we can agree how coverage is counted. Coverage that results from our pitching counts whoever else was involved.
- Don't change the story after approval without agreeing a new Start Date with us. A new product, a new angle or a new date is a new pitch.
A working day is Monday to Friday, excluding bank holidays in England.
5. The Guarantee (White Glove Guaranteed only)
We guarantee at least one piece of Qualifying Coverage within 90 days of the Start Date.
Qualifying Coverage is coverage that passes all of these tests:
- It is earned. It was published by an independent publication's editorial team, or by a journalist it hosts, because they chose to run it. It is not a paid placement, a sponsored post, an advertorial, a wire or syndicated reprint of a press release, a directory listing, or a guest post you wrote yourself.
- It is in a genuine editorial publication β one our engine recognises as a real editorial title, which is the same database we match your story against. Online, print, broadcast and podcast all count.
- It is about you. It names your organisation, product or spokesperson and draws on your press kit. An article, a feature, an interview and a quoted mention all count.
- It came from our pitching, directly or through a journalist we pitched passing the story on.
- It is not materially inaccurate or negative. Coverage like that does not count towards the Guarantee β and does not void it either.
The Start Date is the day you approve your final press kit β not the day you pay. If we send the press kit for approval and hear nothing for seven days, it is treated as approved on the seventh day.
The Guarantee Period is the 90 days from the Start Date. If we are waiting on you for longer than the times in section 4, the clock pauses and the period extends by the same number of days. Coverage published up to 14 days after the period ends still counts if it came from a journalist we were in contact with inside it.
If the press kit is not approved within 60 days of payment for reasons on your side, the Guarantee lapses: we refund the $650 difference and you continue on White Glove.
6. If we miss
If the Guarantee Period ends without Qualifying Coverage, we refund the full $3,350 to the payment method you used, within 14 days. Not a credit. Not a roll-over. A refund, with a credit note for your records.
- You keep your account and your press kit.
- You don't need to claim. Within five working days of the period ending we email you either the coverage report showing Qualifying Coverage, or confirmation that your refund is on its way.
- We attach no conditions to the refund β no non-disclosure, no agreement not to say what you think of us.
7. When the Guarantee doesn't apply
We keep this list short on purpose.
- You didn't do what section 4 asks, and that is what stopped the story being pitched or covered.
- You withdrew the story, or changed it materially without agreeing a new Start Date.
- The story cannot be pitched lawfully or honestly β it is misleading, defamatory, makes health or financial claims we cannot support, or involves illegal activity β and you want it pitched anyway. We will have told you this before you paid.
- You turned down a journalist who wanted the story and who met the test in section 5, without good reason.
Coverage that is later edited, moved, paywalled or taken down by the publication still counts. If it is removed within 30 days for reasons not down to you, we pitch the story again at no charge.
Not guaranteed: a named publication, a particular journalist, where on the page the piece appears, links of any kind, traffic, sales, search rankings, broadcast appearances or awards. Nobody can honestly guarantee those, and we don't.
8. Coverage you'd have written differently
Journalists decide what they publish. If a piece meets the tests in section 5 but you would have preferred a different angle, outlet or wording, it still counts. You approve the press kit before anything is sent, so the facts and quotes are yours. If a piece is materially inaccurate it does not count, and we will help you ask for a correction.
9. How we prove it
Your coverage report lists every piece with a live link on the publication's own site (or a scan or recording for print and broadcast), the publication date, and an archived copy taken on the day we log it. The tests in section 5 are applied on that day, so later changes at the publication don't reopen the question.
If you think a piece in the report doesn't qualify, tell us within 14 days and we reply within 10 working days. If we still disagree, the matter goes to a Press Whisper founder and then, if needed, to mediation before either of us goes to court.
10. Our liability
Apart from the refund in section 6, our total liability for White Glove is capped at the fee you paid for it. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for fraud, for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for anything else the law does not let us limit.
11. Changes, and the law
We may update these terms for future orders. An engagement that has already started stays on the terms in force on the day you paid. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.
